The NDC’s Inusah Fuseini have questioned the feasibility of the free water and electricity…
On the 23rd of July, Ken Ofori Atta the finance minister gave a budget review in parliament among many other things was the promise of continuation of the free water and electricity that started in April.
The Tamale member of parliament and member of the NDC have questioned how the government plan on funding the free electricity and water.
“The promises of the finance minister are doable but what are the long term consequences? The free water will definitely be treated and those who treat the water will be paid. So what are you doing to capacitate the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for them to produce water for the country? What has the minister said in that regard? How much money have you put aside for free water and free electricity?”
Inusah commended the initiative calling it good, but was quick to add there’s nothing really free in this world, so he wonders how’s it’s all gonna play out.
“These things are good but you must know there is no free light. How are you going to pay for them? Are you going to take money from somewhere and pay for them?”
He further called the government one who prioritize promises over reality saying “This Government is bent on putting promises ahead of the reality of the people and that is my worry”.
The parliament is going to be debating the budget on 27th, something Inusah Fuseini says he looks forward to because it’ll be exciting.
