JJ’s attacks on Mills affected him psychologically – Mahama

Deceased President John Evans Atta Mills was affected mentally by the founding father of the National Democratic Congress(NDC)…

JJ Rawlings was not a big fan of Atta Mills, everyone knows that because of certainly statements that was made by the former on the character of the latter.

Such instance was when Rawlings called Atta Mills “Atta Mortuary Man”, but what we didn’t know was how far the disdain went until now.

According to Atto Kwamena Ahwoi in his new book ‘Working With Rawlings’ Atto Kwamena reveals that former President Mahama confided in him about how much JJ’s constant criticisms had affected Mills.

Mahama said President Mills used to complain to him about President Rawlings’ attacks and he had no doubt that the attacks affected President Mills psychologically…,” Kwamena Ahwoi wrote in the first paragraph of Page 200 of the book.

Apparently the intense dislike for Atta Mills being at the helm of his(JJ’s) political party and in government all stems from the rivalry of JJ and another former President, John Agyekum Kuffour(JAK) of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).

As you probably recall already, the nickname of Atta Mills was ‘Asumdwei Hene'(King of Peace) but JJ wasn’t in agreement of that, not the nickname, but how he dealt with the passed NPP government and their appointees when Mills was in power.

“he appeared to have a problem with a problem particularly with former President Kufour and was unhappy that President Mills has allowed him (President Kufour) to live a ‘comfortable life’”.

JJ it appears was expecting some prosecutions of the Kuffour administration but it didn’t go his way and that contributed to his dislike of Mills.
