Ghanaians demand accountability on incomplete hospital buildings

On the 26th of April 2020, the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo had his 8th public address concerning issues related to the coronavirus and how the country is battling it.

In his speech, he promised to build a total of 88 hospitals in districts which will begin this year. Very laudable right? But some Ghanaians beg to differ.

According to some Ghanaians online it makes no sense that there are hospitals halfway construction that have been left abandonned because they were started by previous administrations, only for the government to promise us brand-new hospitals, when he can just complete the already started ones and put them to use, and save the public purse.

hile some people think completing hospitals is the way to go, others also see the other side of the story, a side I find unfortunate which is the reasons why governments pass and present refuses to touch projects started by administrations before them.

Sadly in Ghana, we tend to politicize everything even when it’s in the interest of us the citizens such is how the same people asking the President to do the needful and complete projects will turn around and give credit for the previous government for having started it(something that should not even be a problem since they indeed did start it)…

That coupled with how the opposition will lay claim to such infrastructures and campaign with them saying they started it is what’s stopping the government from completing the hospitals.
