Ghana’s coronavirus cases of infections keeps rising by the day and the situation have gotten even more serious and scarier extending to already heavily congested prisons…
In a disinfection exercise by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Fred Adu Anim told journalists gathered that they’ve recorded cases in the prisons.
Tho he refused to give a head count, he admitted that the number have increased but assured journalists that the infected people have been isolated from the uninfected inmates.
“Some of the inmates have already contracted the disease so we have separated them from the fresh suspects who would come into our custody. I can’t mention the number off-head but they have been taken to isolation centres.”
He added that some Nigerians who were arrested tested negative for the virus.
“If you listened to the news carefully, you will hear that two Nigeriens who were in our custody have been discharged having testing negative. I cannot talk about the others,” he noted.
The number of Covid 19 infections have gone up to 4,263 infections with 4 more deaths making the total number of deaths 22, and 378 recoveries.
Accra still remains the epicenter of the virus in Ghana with over 3,000 infections followed by Kumasi.
